Tree & Shrub Pruning Services
It’s easy to confuse shrub and hedge trimming with pruning, but they are in fact very different concepts, each with different results.
Whereas trimming is often used to create shape, tree pruning is used to sustain plant health and is often carried out in order to encourage new shoots and foliage.
Pruning also allows you to control the growth of your plant, especially if it’s a plant that likes to take over. By removing some older branches, a specific size can be maintained for the space allotted for the plant/tree.
Tree Thinning
Tree pruning can consist of thinning trees, which removes branches in order to reduce density. This process reduces wind resistance and therefore provides your tree with protection against bad weather or storms. If you have a tree that is swaying a lot, we would recommend contacting us about this service.
Thinning can also be used to eliminate any interference with surrounding objects or structures, as well as increasing the amount of light for grass and ground covers beneath the crown of a tree, which is known as raising.
Trimming
Trimming removes part of the plant or hedge’s new growth in order to produce an artificial shape that is more aesthetically pleasing. Trimming can give a formal appearance with dense foliage and little growth on interior portions of the crown.
