The majority of the time tree felling involves cutting the tree back to the stump, with different equipment needed for removing the stump entirely. Our tree stump removal & stump grinding services remove the whole tree all the way back to the root, which has many benefits for your garden.
What are the benefits of stump grinding?
Removing a tree stump doesn’t just make your garden look nicer, but.has a range of other benefits that you may not have considered. From minimising pests to reducing hazards, we’ve listed the main reasons to remove a tree stump below.
Aesthetics
Whilst in some circumstances a tree stump can give off a ‘in the middle of a forest’ vibe, eventually they will start to rot away making them look unsightly. Additionally unless your tree stumps are made to look like a feature they can often look odd and out of place, bringing an un-intended focal point to the garden.
Hazardous
For a variety of reasons tree stumps can be hazardous, usually due to the risk of people falling or tripping over them. They can also have sharp bits of bark sticking out which can pose a real risk if someone was to fall on it.
Obstacle
Old tree stumps are often positioned in inconvenient places, restricting lawn areas or where you could potentially have a seating area. As mentioned previously, obstacles can also cause tripping hazards, so if you’re stump is in the middle of a garden or walk-way, it’s best to have it removed.
Pests
Tree stumps can be the perfect host and breeding ground for a range of pests such as beetles and other wood-boring insects. As your tree stump starts to decay the infestation will get even worse and eventually the insects will move on to other parts of the garden where they can damage your plants and trees. In extreme circumstances these pests can even get in to the home, so if you notice any insects on your stumps, it’s best to have them removed.
Space
Finally tree stumps can take up a much larger area than you realise, so removing them can give you a lot more space than you would have imagined. Even if the space is within a border, it allows for much more space to plant an array of flowers, which can totally transform a garden.
